A pressure washer is frequently utilized to remove old cement from a vehicle. Power washing or pressure washing is the common use of high-pressure hot water spray to eliminate loose-off dirt, grease, dry rot, mud, gum, dust and debris from surfaces and objects like concrete, boats and cars. It’s usually done on cars, boats and other vehicles when the level of exterior dirt is so bad that the regular cleaning chemicals prescribed by the auto care manual aren’t suiting your requirements. This type of cleaning is a must when restoring or refinishing an older model vehicle.
There are basically two types of pressure washers – the pressure washer that sprays water and another which use a liquid jet of pressurized air. The first pressure washer uses an electric motor to pump water and air through a wand or nozzle and the other uses a liquid jet of compressed air. Both employ high-speed water jets propelled by an electric motor. While it can be used successfully on non-porous surfaces, it is not recommended for use on painted surfaces as the wand will inadvertently damage the paint.
To start the cleaning process, fill the pressure washer with a high-quality water-based degreasing agent. It is advisable to test the pressure washer on a hidden portion of the exterior before using it on the main thoroughfare. Use the included rubber mallet or something similar for this purpose to gently pound the washer head against the hard-to-reach areas. The pressure washer will emit a high-pitched whistle to alert you that the cleaning has begun. Be careful not to puncture or damage the exterior paint because it must be removed before the repair can be done. For stubborn dirt and grime, allow it to be dissolved with water before proceeding to the next step.
On large areas like siding, large pressure washers are best suited. These machines will clean large areas smoothly, quickly, and without leaving scuffs or damage to your siding. If using a pressure washer on painted surfaces, it is best to use the sprayer version as it has a wider reach. Be sure not to apply too much pressure when cleaning large areas.
If you are looking to do a more detailed job on your home, consider using the power washing version. There are electric pressure washers that will allow you to spray the exterior surfaces with high-powered water and detergent, while some models allow you to spray the exterior only. These machines are ideal for those who would like to clean several areas at one time and don’t have the time to do a standard pressure washing. They do, however, require more frequent trips to the water source.
Some homeowners opt to purchase a 2000 detergents instead of regular detergents for their pressure washers. This type of detergent is made especially for pressure washers. It is stronger than most household detergents and is more effective in cleaning your car. For this reason, these detergents may cost a bit more than your regular brand.
The exterior finish of your home has a big impact on its value. Homeowners often take great care in the exterior trim. Some will use nail polish to keep it clean and spotless. Others will use exterior wood polish to achieve a professional look. Many homeowners choose to use electric pressure washers to clean their decks and porches. These types of machines may be able to remove stains from wood decks and keep them looking fresh and new.
When choosing between a garden hose and a pressure washer, you should also consider the size of the nozzle. A garden hose can usually reach greater distances than a pressure washer nozzle. For example, a garden hose with a 12-inch hose can reach a distance of four feet while a pressure washer nozzle may only be able to reach a distance of two feet. The quality of the garden hose will also affect the overall performance of the pressure washer. You’ll generally find that a higher quality hose will produce a stronger stream, which will make washing larger items easier.
