The Top 6 Sports News Stories of the Week

As the news comes in, which stories are the most important to you? Do you want to read about your favorite team’s latest win or do you want to learn more about the biggest sporting events of the year? If you’re looking for some help sorting through the variety of sports news stories out there, check out this list of the top six sports news stories of the week. You can’t go wrong with these articles!

1) Football
This week saw a surprise upset in college football as Florida beat LSU. Florida’s quarterback made a run for a game-winning touchdown when he left his feet and dove towards the end zone, but LSU defensive back tried to tackle him and unfortunately landed on top of him. The Gators came away with a 34-29 win after their backup QB led them to two touchdowns in overtime, but many are calling for a review of Florida’s quarterback play due to what some call questionable decision-making. (Florida doesn’t have time for that—they’re facing an FCS opponent next.) On another note, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has begun kneeling during the national anthem in protest against police brutality against African Americans.

2) NBA
Stephen Curry Leads Warriors to Win over Clippers in Overtime – As of press time, Steph Curry had 35 points, 13 assists, and 10 rebounds. He was a unanimous choice for MVP last season and is expected to repeat as winner again. The question now is whether he can be considered on par with Michael Jordan’s six titles or if LeBron James’ three championships make him more deserving. Just for good measure, Curry added a buzzer-beating three-pointer at the end of regulation to tie it up after trailing by 11.

3) MLB
On Wednesday, a bombshell report from Yahoo! Sports alleged that Alex Rodriguez used PEDs from 2001-03 when he was still with Texas. The report alleges that Rodriguez tested positive for nandrolone in 2003 and tried to get MLB to quash his failed test so he could continue playing for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic. The entire A-Rod saga is strange, but it’s particularly bizarre because it contains so many smaller storylines: Rodriguez’s close relationship with controversial nutritionist Anthony Bosch; allegations that Bosch also served as A-Rod’s personal PED supplier; allegations (which were first made two years ago) that A-Rod purchased testosterone from 2001 through 2003 from a compounding pharmacy owned by Dr.

4) MMA
Ronda Rousey is not messing around. The undefeated women’s bantamweight champion has won each of her last five title defenses in 13 seconds or less. Her latest victim, Bethe Correia, lasted just 34 seconds before falling victim to a quick-strike knockout that left fans thinking about what could happen if Rousey ever steps into an Octagon against a man. While it’s unlikely we’ll see any female fights join UFC Fight Night cards anytime soon, that doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing Rousey perform in other ways in 2015.

5) Tennis
Serena Williams makes a triumphant rข่าวกีฬา eturn to professional tennis, winning her first match in two years. The 31-year-old had a baby girl named Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. just last year and is currently ranked outside of the top 1,000 players in terms of her skill level. However, she still proves herself as one of tennis’s all-time greats with a dominating 6–0 win over American Jennifer Brady in Dubai. She follows up that victory with another powerful showing at Indian Wells—she only loses five games before beating Croatian Donna Vekic and advancing to face older sister Venus Williams in their first match since the 2009 Wimbledon final.

6) Golf
Golf great Tiger Woods won his 15th ข่าวกีฬา title at The Open Championship in July, finishing five strokes ahead of fellow golfer Rory McIlroy. The victory came eight years after Woods last won a major and could be a sign that he is ready to return to his dominant form. But some people think he’s going to need more time before winning another title, especially given how old he’ll be when he comes back next year. Next week: What should Tiger do? He can come back now and try to win another championship on top of his career earnings or spend more time out of golf to get healthy again—and give other players a chance to catch up. He should take some time off so others can catch up with him!
